Orange and saffron chicken


Step 1.0

Mix orange juice, oil, mustard, sugar and saffron until sugar is dissolved.

Step 2.0

Quarter onions, flatten unpeeled garlic cloves. Coat chicken, onions and garlic with marinade. Cover and marinate in refrigerator for about 2 hours.

Step 3.0

Preheat oven to 200 °C.

Step 4.0

Cut oranges into thick slices. Season chicken with salt and pepper.

Step 5.0

Place everything in an ovenproof dish. Add orange slices and thyme sprigs. Roast in the oven for about 40 minutes.

Step 6.0

Sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired. Serve with rice or couscous.

  • 4 chicken legs
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coarse-grained mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 pinch of saffron sprigs
  • 4 red onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 oranges
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 4 sprigs of thyme
