Afghan Anar stands for authentic Afghan dishes, made with only the best local ingredients. Swiss meat and vegetables, refined with spices from the Orient. In elaborate and careful work we prepare each of our dumplings by hand. The sauces, the eggplant puree, everything is made with love in Mama's style. Anar is the name given to the pomegranate in Afghanistan. Punica granatum, as it is called in Latin, is one of the oldest fruits known to mankind. The loosestrife plant originated in Persia and was already cultivated as an ornamental and medicinal plant in the famous gardens of Babylon. A poem handed down on papyrus describes the pomegranate in the Garden of Delights as a symbol of sensual love, creative power and regeneration.
